I'm Marlies from Brussels, Belgium. I'm a freelance designer working on
products and services that create positive social impact.
The time I've spent in Africa made it clear to me that making a positive impact in this world is what I want to do. My ultimate goal is to reach that level of design that actually improves people's lives.
In 2013-2014 I lived in Chicago (USA), working exclusively for social sector clients at Greater Good Studio on projects across literacy, health care, workforce development and mental health areas. These projects involved design research, user experience, UX/UI design, social innovation and business development.
Since back in the motherland, I co-founded Twisted Studio, a small studio that helps organisations improve their services in a human-centered way. Besides that, I'm a part-time teacher Crossmedia Design in Antwerp.
If you're interested in creating social impact through design, consider joining my Meetup Group.

Twisted Studio is born! Check out our website.
A few months ago I met Elizabeth Verhetsel, policy adviser on youth and sexuality at Sensoa. She was setting up her own company to help organisations develop services with a human-centered approach. Not too many meetings later we decided that combining my experience with service design with Lies' nonprofit and policy work would be the best thing. We are looking at how we can combine our companies into one solid agency, ready to make the world a better place!
I co-founded Co-Searching, a youth unemployment start-up.
